The
Rotary Club of Brussels is pleased to invite you to its
statutory
meeting on Tuesday, February 10th at 7:15 pm, which will feature a
presentation by our Rotary friend Joseph Antoun on Artificial
Intelligence and its current challenges. His presentation will be in
English.
Joseph Antoun is a Digital Strategy, Data, and AI
Consultant who helps organizations become digital-native, data-native,
and AI-enabled. He also speaks at conferences and advises management on
strategy, governance, and the execution of transformation programs.
When
we talk about AI, we often mix three things: real achievements,
marketing hype, and sometimes fears. This presentation offers a simple
and practical approach.
First, a global overview: where AI stands
today and what it is already capable of. It can generate text, images,
and code; summarize, translate, and analyze documents; assist in
decision-making; and automate tasks. It's progressing rapidly and
becoming ubiquitous: in businesses, education, healthcare, public
services, and, of course, in our phones.
Next, we'll focus on
Belgium: what uses are already in place here, in our organizations,
schools, and services? The challenge isn't to "follow a trend," but to
adopt AI intelligently, taking into account our constraints regarding
trust, data, regulation, and skills.
Finally, we come to the most
important point: ourselves, as individuals. AI is already part of our
daily lives, sometimes without us even realizing it. It brings many
positive aspects, but also real risks: false but convincing information,
manipulation, privacy breaches, fraud, bias, and addiction.
The
goal of this conference is simple: to give you a clear-eyed perspective,
neither alarmist nor naive, so that everyone knows where they stand,
and above all, to better guide our children and our community: how to
use it, how to question it, and how to maintain control.
You are welcome to attend the conference and the cocktail separately. Please indicate your choice when registering.
